Gymnastics

Today Daddy was able to go to Sienna's gymnastics class with us so we were able to take some, ok lots of pictures of her in class. The area for the smaller toddlers also has lots of play things and things for climbing because half of the class time is free play. The other half is very basic skills at this age. Just some good stuff for balance and coordination. First are some pictures of Sienna during free play.

Here is Sienna on the small tramp trying to learn to jump. She doesn't jump yet, just usually bends her knees and then straightens them, or just marches.

Now she is trying to learn how to jump off the vault board. And learning to do a forward roll.

Her favorite thing is the tumbl track. She's suppose to jump down it to the end, however she just runs down it and giggles the whole time. As soon as she gets to the end, she just turns around and runs back the other way. Maybe she'll be into track, she would just do this all day if we let her.

Paul is explaining to Sienna that she's suppose to walk down the beam and then when she gets to a bean bag, bend down to pick it up. She did well, except she would bend down and whip the bean bag off the beam as hard as she could.

Finally the bar. She's suppose to grab the bar, jump off the mat and swing on the bar to kick the elephant mat over. She needed some help swinging, but really did pretty well at this and even lets go of the bar and jumps down on her own when finished.

Outside fun.

These days Sienna is more into pushing the swing than she is into being in the swing. She's starting to show signs of more pretend play like feeding Elmo and today she put her "baby" into the swing to push her.

She also enjoyed playing with sidewalk chalk.

Paul is making us a picnic table. These are the 2 benches he has done. He just needs to start the table now.

In the toliet.

So anyone with young kids knows how you never get to go to the bathroom alone, in peace anymore. Well Sienna was playing with some new hair bows I had just bought her. After I finished going to the bathroom and stood up she took the handful of hair bows and tossed them into the toilet! Note to self: close the lid before ANYTHING else when getting up (including pulling up your pants). Couldn't flush them so had to do the deed of getting them out of the toilet that unfortunately wasn't full of clean toilet water :( Thank God for wire hangers and a still large supply of gloves from my RN days.

Later in the day I was putting together the old kitchen table in the guest bedroom to use as a scrapbooking table. Sienna has seen me put together this table & take it down like 3 times in the last several months so she knew what to do. She picked up a table leg that's taller than she is & grunted as she brought it over to the table. Unfortunately I was running to get the camera & don't have a picture of her carrying it. But I do have some of her trying to take the nuts and washers off the bolt on the leg. Then after I put the leg in place and screwed on the bottom nut she insisted on trying to screw on the other nut herself. I did have to help show her which way to turn it round & round & round, as she says. Or more like "rou an rou an rou." But she has the basic idea of it.

Art & 1st DQ

Sienna's new art project. Taking construction paper, tearing it, & sticking it to contact paper. Thanks to Jen for this suggestion, she loved it! We tore the construction paper on one side of the room and then she picked a piece up, I told her the color, then she had to run to the other side of the room to stick it on. She giggled during the running part.

This evening Sienna had her 1st Dairy Queen & of course loved it. But I have to say the kiddie cups are huge compared to the kiddie cups we use to get. You remember the small paper cup? I was shocked to see how big a kiddie cup was!

Day of Fun

Yesterday we had a busy day, but a very fun day. In the afternoon Paul's class had a pool party. The kiddie pool was awesome. Sienna could walk in it & there was a canopy covering the enitre kiddie pool. She also used her blow up turtle for the 1st time & used some water wings, which kept her afloat really well to my surprise. She also made friends with Aiken, whom Sienna loved and thought was very funny.

Later we went to have dinner with friends, Scott & Amy & their girls, who we played with yesterday (Paul met Scott while in Iraq). We had a lot of fun and some great grilled food. Paul got addicted to their Wii and played 30 min after he said we were leaving. And Sienna, who has had major, extreme stranger anxiety for months (except from kids), went over to Amy & sat in her lap last night! Amy is one of the first people besides family she has voluntarily gone to. I was very happy to see that. Maybe there's hope.

Playing with new friends

We started today out with gymnastics. Sienna was fine as long as the coach didn't talk to her. After her nap we went over to play with some new friends. Amy and her daughters Kate & Ella. It took Sienna a little while to warm up, at first she would only sit on my lap, but the girls were so sweet to her and eventually she was exploring their house on her own. She loved the slide and trampoline and of course their dogs that she kept snuggling with.

In Daddy's Shoes

I was getting Sienna's dinner ready and she was down by the door putting her feet into Paul's shoes.

Oh and today she said "cock-doo" when asked what a rooster says. She's never bothered to answer us when we asked that question before.

Playing with Daddy

Sienna loves wrestling around with Daddy & being chased by him. Daddy also let Sienna play on the computer (which Mommy doesn't do, cause she bangs on it & sometimes messes it up). After playing on it for awhile she finally relized that there was a picture of her on it.

Swimming

Today Sienna went swimming with our neighbor's daughter, Merle. Merle is 22 months old and her & Sienna always play so well together. There are also some pictures of Sienna having a snack in the car.
